One of Game of Thrones favorite characters is Arya Stark. The youngest girl of House Stark, Arya rose from daddy’s tomboy, to badass assassin that even Brienne of Tarth must lend her respects to. As we anticipate the final season of HBO’s hit series, actress Maisie Williams has offered a little bit of information surrounding her character’s final scene on screen. Spoiler alert: she’ll be alone.
“I ended on the perfect scene,” Williams shared with The Guardian. “I was alone –- shocker! Arya’s always bloody alone. But I was alone and I had watched a lot of other people wrap. I knew the drill, I had seen the tears and heard the speeches.”
“I got to the end and I didn’t want more,” the actress noted. “I had exhausted every possible piece of Arya. And this season was quite big for me. I had a lot more to do. Mainly because there’s just less characters now, so everyone’s got more to do.”
In the original article by comicbook.com, the question was raised: are we surprised that Arya will be alone? Well, I am not. Simply put, if Arya alone, does that mean that she is the sole survivor of whatever tragedy is sure to come our way?
We must wait until 2019 for Game of Thrones’s ninth season, but in the meantime, we can look forward to Williams in the X-Men film, The New Mutants, which is slated to be the franchise’s first horror movie.
