She trained her whole life to become the strongest warrior of Jotunheim, to become the beloved champion of her gods. But when the time came to finally prove her strength, Vei was cast into the sea by the very god she fought for. Rescued by a Viking ship, Vei returns to Jotunheim, home of the legendary giants. There she finds herself caught in the Meistarileikir, a bloody game between the humans, the giants, and the gods of Asgard that will determine who will have the right to rule the land of Midgard. Having lost the confidence of her own god, Vei must take her place in the Meistarileikir and fight not only for the control of Midgard, but for her very life, in this epic battle against daring warriors, fearsome monsters, and even the gods themselves. A bestseller in Sweden, Vei weaves together an incredible tale that pits man against God and God against God in an outstanding Hunger Games meets Norse mythology graphic novel.

From the first pages of Vei you are greeted with a sense of calm of a spiritually awoken warmth with poetic elements through the openings of a mythical Nordic adventure. The illustrations are visually entertaining, expressive, compelling to the reader.

Each chapter serves a reader’s delight of what a good graphic novel/comic story should be. The writing of Sara B. Elfgren is entertaining, warm, dramatic, empowered and poetically adventurous which develop into a book but a book which becomes a Norse legend in its own right.

I won’t leave any spoilers, but I will say you that you will be greeted by heart-racing moments of action, episodes of magical fantasy and the confrontation of Norse Giants, plus much more. I am very much looking forward to seeing this treasured tale of Vei unfold. This is the beginning of something very special for readers, both long-term comic readers and newcomers. I was very happy and comforted with this entertaining story. Vei is published by Insight Comics in hardback format which is ideally perfect for placing on your book shelf, coffee table or on your bedside table. VEI is highly recommended for a wide audience. Once you’ve read VEI BOOK ONE you will be anxious to read VEI-BOOK TWO.
