With Venom having been a box-office success, Sony has moved forward with its next project – Morbius, the living vampire, which will star Jared Leto as the titular character. There haven’t been a lot of details about the Spider-Man spin-off solo film, but the actor recently posted an Instagram video, signing the video with the caption, “Hello London. MORBIUS.”
Leto is known for getting into characters, as he did when he played the Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad. The project release date is July 31, 2020 so it makes sense that Leto would want to start the hype train at this time. After all, Sony building a world where Spider-Man is not involved is going to take some imagination and you’re going to want to build a presence when it comes to a character like Morbius.
Director Avi Arad spoke about Leto’s ability to bring his characters to the big screen:
“This is the great thing for us now, that an actor like [Leto], and an actor like [Venom star] Tom [Hardy] wanted to have their own character. But the character they love,” Arad told Collider. “Both of them, very hard to get them to do a movie. You actually cannot get them. We went in, we sat with them, and everybody told us, ‘Oh, ba, ba, ba, ba, ba.’ Nothing. That’s what he wanted to do.”
Tell me if you are looking forward to Morbius? Let us know!
