According to Deadline

It is stated that Josh Boone was working on another project for CBS, a mini-series from one of Stephen King’s novel “The Stand” Many fans were wondering if New Mutants would be canceled because of this information, but that isn’t the case. Even though it had so many delays in the past. New Mutants is still being released in theaters August 2nd.

The last time New Mutants was addressed was by Simon Kinberg on Ign and Josh Boone CCXP.

This is what Producer Simon Kinberg had to say,

“Audiences really embraced the notion of a superhero movie or a comic book movie that was, in its core, a horror film,”

I still hope that this is the case. Having a Horror based Super Hero film is an amazing premise that should be explored.

Josh Boone said this in his interview,

“We brought it to Fox as a trilogy of films, really all based on that long run by [Bill] Sienkiewicz, and kind of incorporates some stuff from later issues in the ’80s,”

“These are all going to be horror movies, and they’re all be their own distinct kind of horror movies. This is certainly the ‘rubber-reality’ supernatural horror movie. The next one will be a completely different kind of horror movie. Our take was just go examine the horror genre through comic book movies and make each one its own distinct sort of horror film. Drawing from the big events that we love in the comics.”

Well, we do know this. It will not become trilogy anymore since Disney is acquiring Fox which means all movie rights go back to Disney. Let us just hope that this film ends on a good note.
