So what do we know thus far for Sony’s attempt to re-introduce the Masters of the Universe? Not a whole lot. We do know that Noah Centineo has been cast in the lead role as He-Man. As for other roles, the details have not been as forthcoming. We know that the Nee Brothers, Adam, and Aaron Nee are directing the reboot from a script written by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Sony will have Matthew Milam overseeing the project and Mattel is a partner on the film. In addition, Escape Artists’ Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are producing alongside Franklin Entertainment’s DeVon Franklin. Now, thanks to Heroic Hollywood, some of the roles the studio is looking to fill for the project have been revealed.
This was a given! It would not be Masters of the Universe if it did not include the most dangerous threat to Eternia? Skeletor is the Ying to He-Man’s Yang. He must be there and be a formidable opponent.
While details are slim, It is being reported that the studio is looking for a male actor in his 40s to take on the role of Skeletor, He-Man’s most dangerous antagonist who won’t rest until he has the secrets of Castle Grayskull which would allow him to become the Master of the Universe!
Ruler of Eternia and father to both Prince Adam(He-Man) and She-Ra. Details on what kind of actor the studio is looking to cast for the male character have yet to be revealed. But it would certainly make sense to be looking for an actor in his late 40’s to mid 50’s. He is supposed to be old enough to obtained the throne and fathered two adult children.
Sony is looking for an actress in her 20s to take on the role of Teela.
Teela was one one of the earliest Masters of the Universe characters that Mattel developed. She is the Captain of the Royal Guard at the Palace of Eternos and often assists He-Man in his battles. She is the adopted daughter of Man-at-Arms.
Then, there is Zodak. Details on what type of actor the Sony is looking to play this character are still under wraps.
Zodak was a hardly used character in the animated version thus it is interesting that the writers have decide to include him. Initial descriptions of the character had him in a more neutral position helping both heroes and villains. However, he has been most recently described as a villain. As more information is revealed, we will see which way this character winds blow.
