SVU Star Peter Scanavino Opens Up About Possible Carisi Romance

Law and Order: SVU opened up its 20th season with two explosive episodes. Now competing with the original Law and Order series for longest-running drama on the network, the show in the past five years has gone through some character changes. One of those has become a fan favorite – Dominick Carisi aka Sonny. Portrayed by Peter Scanavino, the actor was only meant to come on short-term while Danny Pino’s character Nick Amaro was demoted. After five episodes, Carisi was so well loved that he was promoted to series regular.

Since season sixteen, we’ve seen little bits and pieces of Carisi’s life, but never a romantic one. While we’ve seen Olivia Benson’s love life, Amaro’s, Amanda Rollins, and as of last night’s, even newcomer Peter Stone’s, but never Carisi’s. There have been some alluding here and there that he may have a girlfriend, but us fans want to see more. In an exclusive interview with HollywoodLife, Scanavino opened up about the possibility of Carisi’s romantic life, specifically with Kelli Giddish’s Rollins, which many fans have “shipped” for a while.

“You know, it’s strange because I feel like Rollins (Kelli Giddish) and Carisi are very organic relationship,” Peter told HollywoodLife EXCLUSIVELY. “It kind of came from Kelly and I just being pretty good friends. When I first came to the show. Rollins hated my character’s guts. And I was like, why are you so angry all the time? But now we get along really well. I think we got really good charisma onscreen, so we kind of developed this friendship.”

“I think there is something there. I mean I would not be opposed,” Peter added. “But I mean, also it might be difficult for it to happen, maybe give it time on the show.”

How would you feel about a Carisi and Rollins romance? Or a Carisi romance in the first place? You can catch up with the season 20 premiere on Hulu and NBC.com and tuned in on Thursday nights!
