Good Guys Always Win – A Look At Comic Book Heroes

Nope, I’m not talking about Chucky. I’m talking about the protagonists, the heroes, the virtuous, the righteous, and often times even the squares. If you’re like me, born in the 80’s but grew up in the 90’s, you thought that the good guys of your childhood were a little corny, a little dry, and the term goodie good also comes to mind. However, the majority of the time you were on their side because of course you didn’t want Rita Repulsa destroying Angel Grove with a crayfish monster. There wasn’t much nuance back then, it was very clear who was

Geek Speak: Still Outsiders

In today’s day in age, getting into comics is easier and less stigmatizing than ever. What with quarter yearly film releases of superhero movies. Streaming services. Apps to read comics. Funko Pop figures of every Deadpool variation. And loot crates, so you don’t even have to keep up with your geek culture, it’s processed and itemized for you. So, you’d think that the old issue by issue readers would rejoice in this renaissance, right? No, that is not the case. We are accused of gatekeeping, complaining about change, called racists, sexists, and homophobes. And why? Because we LOVE comics, we

Opinion: Why The DCAU Should Be Released In Theaters

When I was a child I watched many franchises. I would watch Beyblade, Pokemon, Digimon, and Dragon Ball Z (my favorite anime), but one series that always had my attention and made me the DC fan I am today is the Justice League series. That show introduced me to my favorite superhero, Superman, and led me to watch the Richard Donner Superman films. Something clicked when I watched the Justice League series and I don’t know why. Possibly because the writers did not make the show all about superpowers, but also made the characters have personality and relatable in some

Tim Seeley Discusses Bloodshot, The Industry, and #WhoWouldWin

Tim Seeley Discusses Bloodshot, the industry, and #WhoWouldWin I had the pleasure of interviewing legendary comic book writer and artist Tim Seeley at Chicago’s C2E2 2019 event. His credits include the groundbreaking (at least in my opinion) Hack/Slash, G.I. Joe vs Transformers, and Revival. He’s also the writer of one of my all time favorite titles, ‘Loaded Bible’ which tells the all too familiar tale of Jesus coming back in a post apocalyptic world in order to fight the vampire overlords who control it. You know…the usual type of Jesus story.   In this interview Tim Seeley discusses the staying

Comic Review: Marvel Legacy: Loki Sorcerer Supreme (Complete Story)

Doctor Strange is known throughout the multiverse as a great many things. Protector of the Earth realm, Master of the Mystic Arts and last but certainly not least; Sorcerer Supreme. At least, he used to be. The story of how the God of mischief became the Sorcerer Supreme is told throughout Doctor Strange issues #381-#385 in Loki: Sorcerer Supreme. The story follows on from the earlier issues of Doctor Strange involving the  Empirikul and from the Secret Empire storyline but is for the most part completely understandable as its own Stand-alone story. And, its a damn good one. Story Loki:

Tony Stark is flying into the world of VR later this year. PlayStation VR will be receiving another huge title later this year in the form of Marvel’s Iron Man VR. The game was officially announced Monday during Sony’s State of Play streaming presentation. The trailer itself is classic Iron Man. His plane is attacked by a mysterious assailant and when he is sucked out of the burning vehicle, he suits up with a little help from FRIDAY and goes into battle. We see the player use their hands to blast away enemies using Iron Mans iconic  “Hand-Mounted Repulsors” and we

Marvel’s ‘ABSOLUTE CARNAGE’ Coming August

CainanCainan is a walking talking Superman fanboy since age 2! He has been a lover of movies since he could understand them which was probably around the age of 5. Geeking out to He-Man, G.I. Joe, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and just about every other Saturday morning cartoon. An old school action flick kind of guy, he grew up with Arnold, Stallone, and Willis keeping him company. He is also big into technology and video games. From the classic NES to the PS4, he has played them all. He runs the Geek Vibes Nation Twitter account and is also the

From the GVN Files: Who is Namor: The Sub-Mariner?

mllkatI am a 50 something child of the 70’s who admits to being a Star Trek/Star Wars/Comic Book junkie who once dove head first over a cliff (Ok, it was a small hill) to try to rescue his Fantastic Four comic from a watery grave. I am married to a lovely woman who is as crazy as I am and the proud parent of a 15 year old boy with autism. My wife and son are my real heroes. https://mllkat63.wordpress.com
