Mustafa Shakir Will Be Baron Samedi in American Gods

Casting announcements such as Kahyun Kim as New Media and Devery Jacobs as Sam Black Crow were both well publicized prior to American Gods’ second season. But, why wasn’t it announced that Luke Cage’s Mustafa Shakir would be in it as well!? Last month I posted an article that speculated that Shakir had seemingly hinted that he would be playing Baron Samedi in the second season and now I can officially confirm it based on an Instagram post the actor recently shared: View this post on Instagram “Trouble is you think you got time, but time has you baby.” #mewe

American Gods Season 2 Episode 3: Welcome New Media and Sam Black Crow! [Spoilers]

Things get a little funky in the third episode of American Gods’ second season. We pick up where episode two began, in the aftermath of Wednesday sacrificing his car Betty in order to crash the train that Shadow had been held and tortured on. Mustafa Shakir premiered in Luke Cage season two as the villain turned anti-hero Bushmaster who I was all too happy to see more of, but as we all know, Netflix decided to discontinue their relationship with Marvel. But, not to make this article about that, I instead

The Punisher and Bushmaster: From Villains to Anti-Heroes

If you’ve read any of my previous articles, it is probably a known fact that I am a Frank Castle fan. Originally making his appearance on Daredevil season 2, Jon Bernthal blew everyone away with his performance to the point that the Jeph Loeb ordered a spin-off series soon after the premiere of Daredevil’s second season. When we first meet the Punisher, he was a terrifying contrast to Daredevil and someone who could easily take down the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen. Throughout the season, we began sympathizing more for Castle, realizing his killing spree wasn’t random, and that he did have
