On top of all the grounds that Wonder Woman has broken, the film is now a winner of a Hugo Award. Winning the award for Best Dramatic Presentation – Long Form, Wonder woman beat out Blade Runner 2049, Get Out, The Shape of Water, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Thor: Ragnarok. Those are not easy competitors to beat out, but if Wonder Woman has shown us anything, it is the power of a strong, female lead produced by an intellectual and driven woman. After the major success of WW, Patty Jenkins commented about the new freedoms she has while filming Wonder Woman 1984.

“The greatest thing about making this movie was the fact that you’re really building to the Wonder Woman that we all love, but not until the end of the movie,” Jenkins said. “The most exciting thing about [the sequel] is literally seeing her loose in the world now, living those classic stories. Here’s Wonder Woman, and what can she do?”

I can’t wait personally to see the sequel, which will feature, of course, Gal Gadot herself. The sequel will also see the return of Chris Pine as Steve Trevor. This fact has caused much speculation, considering we watched the man die in the previous film. Superhero movies have always been known for resurrecting previously thought to be deceased characters. Wonder Woman 1984 will premiere in theaters on November 1, 2019.
